FOCUS GROUP – FUTURE APPLICATIONS OF DIGITAL CLOTHING: AR & VR IN THE FUTURE OF FASHION

February 20th 2019 2:20 pm – Room 4

Mixed Realities, including AR and VR, are evolving at a rapid rate and there are a number of evolving niche market applications emerging including VR surgery simulators, immersive tools to teach and train technical workers, immersive experiences aimed at treating a variety of psychological conditions, and more.

AR/VR will be an important part of fashion marketing in 2019 by giving customers the ability to showcase what you wear and how you wear items in real time scenarios. The AR software market alone is expected to hit $35.22 Billion by 2022, and companies such as Sephora, Niki, Facebook have already followed suit by allocating increased funding to AR projects, whist technology companies like Gerber are purchasing smaller MR companies to enhance their digital offering in this way.

AR visualization will forever change the way we shop. It can help drive customer engagement and ultimately increase a company’s bottom line. But as demand increases, the need for people to work within this industry will multiply.

Join Roz McNulty, Digital Magician at the Fashion Innovation Centre and member of the VRARa, to discuss:

  • How will VR or AR solutions work best within practical restraints?
  • Which companies will create  the best change room experiences first?
  • What skills will we be need to ‘stock’ 3D clothing?
